Within a dynamic information and exhibition framework, we will hold an interdisciplinary meeting inspired in the four species of South American Camelids. These animals are original from the South American Andes and produce a variety of fine fibers with unique qualities in the world.
ACTIVITIES:
Conferences on alpaca breeding, fiber production and reproduction. Local and international lectures will present the latest techniques in alpaca genetic development, breeding and reproduction.
Conferences on manufacturing and industry of the alpaca fiber. Technology to support industry. We will bring together lecturers and speakers specialized in alpaca manufacturing and industry, production processes and end products.
Alpaca fiber production and transformation workshops. The knowledge of the ancestral hands lives in the modern world. Come and see the traditional processes of selection, dyeing and weaving of the yarns.
Alpaca judging. We will present a show with our best alpaca specimens. Breeders from different communities will receive awards from a specialized jury in genetics and production.
Visit to the main factories. Visit the main factories engaged in the manufacturing and transformation of products derived from alpaca fiber. Come and see the technology and quality processes applied in their production.
Vicuña Chaccu. Take a trip to the Toccra community and witness the magic of an ancestral ceremony: the Chaccu. This cultural expression which, together with picturesque rituals, are part of the offerings to the gods, asks for the fertility of the herd.
